Joseph R. Vasquez

Joseph R. Vasquez of Pullman died at his home. He was 62. Joe was born December 11, 1954 in Pittsburg, California to Robert and Beatrice (Ortiz) Vasquez. He attended elementary school in Brentwood, CA and graduated from Liberty Union High School. Joe then attended Diablo Valley College where he was an All-American wrestler. He also graduated from a carpenter trade school after four years. Joe began his professional career as a builder, working on the San Francisco Embarcadero Center, high rise construction with Dinwiddie and since coming to the Palouse, working on projects at Washington State University, the University of Idaho and Sweitezer Engineering. Joe was a member of gun clubs in California and Washington, a member of the Moscow Elks, Moose Lodge and an active member of leagues at the University of Idaho and the Moscow Elks where he competed in, and won the Sole Survivorship Championship. Other interests include fishing, trap and bird shooting, coaching Moscow wrestling, motorcycle riding, movies, video games, music and food! He is survived by his daughters, Amelia Hanisch, Lisa Vasquez and Jessica Vasquez as well as his beloved grandchildren, Eloise Hanisch, Charles Uscola and Lane Alexander. A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Moscow Elks Lodge beginning at 12:00 Noon.
