Judith Marineau

January 7, 1939 — March 27, 2025

Judith Lee Stubbs was born January 7, 1939 in Madison, WI to Merl W. and Erna A. (Domke) Stubbs. The family moved to Moscow in 1943 when her father became manager of Crites Moscow Growers Seed Company. She passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025 in Moscow, ID, at the age of 86.

Judy attended Moscow public schools and graduated from Moscow High School in 1957. While studying for her BA in English at the University of Idaho she sang in the Vandaleers and belonged to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.  She was a charter member of the Sigma Zeta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Lota Womens’ Music Fraternity, and was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa in 1960 and graduated in the class of 1961. While working a summer job at the Idahonian newspaper she met and eventually married A.J. (Jack) Marineau. Their marriage took place on August 15, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moscow. He preceded her death on May 18, 1999. They are survived by their children Jacques and wife Damaris, with sons Jacob and Peter of Plano, TX; Gerard and wife Susan, with children Andre’ and Noelle of Sammamish, WA; and Claudine Tanner and husband Rob, with children Zackary and Madison of Richland, WA.

Two brothers, Gerald Stubbs of Lacrosse, WA and Gene Stubbs of Moses Lake, WA; brother in law William Marineau and his wife JoAnne of Spokane, WA and niece Marcia Marineau of Moscow, ID preceded her in death. Gerald’s wife Angie of Colfax, WA; their son Michael and wife Tami of Lacrosse; Gene’s daughters Pamela Orser and Tina Born, and their mother MaryJean Adams all of Caldwell, ID; nephews Stephen Marineau and wife Julie, and Bill Marineau and wife Lynne all of McCall, ID and Mark Marineau and wife Lisa of Tigard, OR survive her along with many great nieces and nephews.

Judy’s love of music started early in life, growing from high school musical pianist through numerous choirs throughout her life along with teaching private piano lessons from 1980 to 1995. She later stayed involved with many musical connections within the community, and enjoyed acting as organist for area churches including St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mark’s Episcopal, and the Christian Science Church and played for many weddings and funerals.

Judy enjoyed hosting many formal luncheons, teas, meetings and gatherings, participating in numerous groups including Kappa Kappa Gamma, Sigma Alpha Lota, Fine Arts Club, Moscow-Pullman Chorale, the Pleiades Club and the Roman Catholic Church. As a member of Chapter O, PEO, a philanthropy for women, she served on the Idaho State Board for the PEO convention held in Pocatello.

As the first one to help, bring soup when you were sick and your biggest cheerleader, Judy was a blessing to all who knew her. She enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, music, volunteer work with seniors, and the family summer house at Windy Bay, Lake Coeur d’Alene.

After the passing of her husband A.J. (Jack) of 39 years, Judy enjoyed the companionship of Bill Deobald for many years. Most recently, Judy and her longtime gentleman friend Edmund Tylutki, found joy together for the last years of their lives, both departing within a mere 16 days.

The family extends special thanks to the nursing staff of Paradise Creek of Olympus, especially Marjy, Edith, and Veronica for their compassion and care for Judy and her family.
