Katie M. Lundy

October 29, 1929 — August 31, 2016

Katie M. Lundy went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday afternoon, August 31, 2016. She was 86. Katie was born October 29, 1929 in Genesee County, Michigan to John L. and Lula M. Lewis Heath. When she was an infant, the family moved to Broadwater, Nebraska where she attended a country school and later graduated from Broadwater High School. On August 31, 1952, she married Albert L. Lundy in Broadwater, Nebraska. They moved to Nampa, Idaho where Al enrolled at Northwest Nazarene College, where he graduated in 1957 with a theology degree. During this time two children were born, David and Kathleen. Al and Katie took their first pastorate for the Church of the Nazarene in Farnam, Nebraska. After four years, they moved to Brush, Colorado where they lived for two years and their son Dan was born. Being called to another pastorate in Roswell, NM, a daughter, Pam joined the family. They also pastored in Henderson, TX and Pendleton, OR before moving to Palouse, Washington to pastor in 1972. In 1977, they moved to Colville, WA where they pastored for 5 years. In 1983, they settled in Moscow where Al and Katie served on staff at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene for over 20 years. They made countless hospital and nursing home visits, called on folks that were shut-ins, and were custodians at the church. Katie loved helping with Missions work and Compassionate Ministries. Katie considered it a privilege to serve alongside Al in ministry, playing the piano, teaching Sunday school, serving as Missions president, cleaning the church and whatever needed to be done. She had a heart for hospitality and delighted in opening her home for meals and overnight guests. She loved people and enjoyed baking for them! In later years she cooked for fraternities and sororities on campus. Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death on April 15, 2011. She is survived by a son, David L. Lundy of Richland, WA and daughters, Kathleen (Lee) McCoy of Palouse, WA and Pamela (Lonny) Lofts of Fairbanks, Alaska. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Katie was also preceded in death by a son, Dan in 2003 and brothers Paul and Harold Heath and a sister, Esther Heath. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at the Viola Cemetery, followed with a luncheon and fellowship at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to the Mission Fund at the Nazarene Church or to Gideon's International, Palouse Hills Camp. Arrangements have been entrusted to Short's Funeral Chapel, Moscow, and online condolences may be sent to www.shortsfuneralchapel.com
