Kenneth L. Chamberlin

August 16, 1946 — December 26, 2014

Kenneth Lester Chamberlin passed away at his home after a four-year hard fought battle with Lymphoma on December 26, 2014. He was 68. Ken was born in Lewiston, ID on August 16, 1946 to George and Verla (Gardner) Chamberlin and joined sister Beverly and brother Gary. He attended Clarkston High School and graduated in 1964 then soon after joined the Army. He spent the majority of his service in Berlin with an intelligence unit listening in on Vietcong and other enemy transmissions and passing that information on to his commanders. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and joined the Whitman County Sheriff's office as a jailer and during that time married Donna Heitmann. In 1970 he joined the WSU Police Department. In 1972 his daughter Cynthia was born and would be their only child. He left the WSU police force in 1991 and went to work for CableVision in Pullman and stayed with the cable company and their many name changes until he retired in 2011 from Time Warner. In 1991 he also met his future wife Susan Williams Kuehner and married in 1997. They made their home in Moscow and enjoyed many years of camping almost every weekend during the summer in fall as well as taking a yearly vacation with their best friends, the Geezers. He loved the mountains and exploring via 4-wheelers and always looked forward to the yearly vacations. They camped out of Clarkia, what the locals called Camper Corner along with other couples who leased ground next to them and became good friends with all of them. He especially loved his grandkids and when they were little he would chase them all over the house teasing them; tossing them up in the air while they were begging him to "do it again." As the grandkids grew he still loved to tease them. He was a very special loving man, kind and gentle. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Sue, his daughter, Cynthia Reese (Ron) and grandson Brady; Sue's daughters Renee Kuehner, Michelle Barringer (Wade) and their children Ronan and Thea; Jennifer McDonald (Rob) and their boys Lars and Odin, his sister Beverly Coe (Chuck) and their children, Linda (Glenn) Baker and Monty (Cindy) Coe, and brother Gary, and his son Brett - and the Geezers. The family would like to express their special thanks to Dr. Shah and all the nurses at St. Joe's Cancer Center as well at Gritman Hospital, plus extra thanks to the most loving nurses and aids with Gentiva Hospice. Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Society or Gentiva Hospice. At Ken's request, there will be no service but later in the spring, there will be a memorial for family and friends at Rock Creek Cemetery out of Potlatch. Wear you camping clothes! Arrangements have been entrusted to Short's Funeral Chapel, Moscow, and online condolences may be sent to www.shortsfuneralchapel.net.
