Kevin Haley

Oct 17, 0007 — Oct 17, 2026

Kevin Blane Haley was born on October 17, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland to Frank and Kathleen (Wadsworth) Haley. He joined his older brother Keith, and was soon joined by his younger sisters, Kara and Krista. Kevin enjoyed a childhood grounded in faith, family, and a love of nature. Growing up, Kevin was a member and integral part of the youth group at Orems UMC and later the Youth Leader at Camp Chapel UMC in Baltimore where he inspired others on their faith journey. He graduated from Overlea High School in 1975.

In 1980, Kevin followed his brother Keith to Idaho and never looked back. In 1997, he met Lynne Troxel while they were both working at Hidden Creek Ranch. They were married in Moscow, Idaho, in 1998. Their daughter, Phoebe, joined the family in 2009.

Kevin enjoyed a successful 40+ year career as a farrier. A highly respected craftsman, he was selected to the American Farriers Team in 1995 and 1996, representing the United States in international farrier competitions. When Phoebe was born, Kevin was able to retire from full-time work and devote himself to being a full-time father. She was the light of his life.

Kevin was happiest when he was hiking, backpacking, drawing, making music, and listening to music. He was especially proud of the work of his niece, Ashleigh Caudill, whom he often described as his favorite musician.

Kevin passed away on October 17, 2026, seven months after being diagnosed with ALS.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne, and his daughter, Phoebe; his brother, Keith Haley and wife, Pattie; his sisters, Kara Caudill and husband Marcus, who was also Kevin’s childhood best friend, and Krista Ports and husband Joel; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who brought him immense joy throughout his life.
