Lee Ann Berg, 65, of Viola, ID, passed away at home on March 20, 2026, surrounded by family, after a long battle with Benson’s Syndrome.
Lee Ann was born on May 6, 1960 at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA to Jerry and Shirley Dirks. She moved to Moscow, ID with her parents at the age of two in 1962, and graduated from Moscow High School in 1978.
She earned two Bachelor’s degrees in Elementary and Special Education (1984) and a Master’s in Elementary Education (1989) from the University of Idaho. She taught Kindergarten at St. Rose’s in Moscow (1984–1987), and then 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades at McDonald Elementary over the course of her teaching career. She retired in 2019 after 32 years with Moscow School District.
She met her husband, Tim, while he worked at her father’s tire store, and they were married in July 1978.
Lee Ann was known for her wit, compassion, and tenacity. She enjoyed long summer days spent swimming and boating at her Cocolalla Lake cabin with family. She delighted in books, shows, and music that brought her close to her loved ones. She was happiest when those around her were smiling and laughing.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy (Viola, ID), her mother, Shirley (Moscow, ID), her brother, Bret (Coeur d’ Alene, ID), her children Mitchell (Sandpoint, ID), Hayley (Maple Valley, WA), and Samuel (Seattle, WA), along with her grandchildren, Lennon and Marleigh (Maple Valley, WA), and Jaxon, Colton, and Penny (Sandpoint, ID). She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry, and her mother-in-law, Clarice Berg.
She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her gregariousness, her deep love for her family and friends, and her life’s passion of being an educator.
The recitation of the rosary will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moscow. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at the Moscow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PreBorn in Lee Ann’s memory.
