Leota Claire Calene Mcintyre

Leota Claire Calene McIntyre of Moscow died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Good Samaritan Moscow Village. She was 88. Leota was born January 15, 1928 in St. Joe, Idaho to Colonel William and Dorothy Beck Smith. She grew up and attended school at Bovill, graduating from there in 1946. She and Willis Calene were married on February 7, 1947 in Moscow. They made their home in Bovill and Troy where she worked as the high school secretary and later as secretary for the superintendent of the White Pine School District. Willis died in December of 1973. On March 25, 1978 she married Bud McIntyre in Coeur d'Alene. They lived in Spokane, and she returned to Moscow and Pullman six years ago. Leota was a longtime member of the Troy Lutheran Church, a "Birthday Club" in Troy, Royal Neighbors and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, making quilts for her family, collecting silhouette pictures and Hummel figurines, traveling - especially to see family in Kentucky and Georgia and going to Disneyland. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and cleaning her house. Leota is survived by her husband, Bud, in Spokane, a daughter, Janice Bieren of Moscow and her sister, Jessie Linderman of Bovill. She also leaves her grandchildren, Lisa Geidl of Moscow, Chad Bieren of Bellevue, WA, Jeff Calene of Las Vegas, Josh Calene of Beaverton, OR and Jacob Calene of Moscow as well as 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Calene in June of 1996. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Short's Funeral Chapel on Saturday June 11, 2016, with a reception to follow at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene. The family suggests memorials be made to the Troy Lutheran Church or to the Troy Fire Department.
