Lois Rebecca Dodson (Becky) passed away aged 89 in Moscow, June 14, 2022. She was born September 1, 1932, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She married Private Gale E. Dodson in 1950, then graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1949. Family was everything to Becky, and she was cherished as their daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend.
Becky loved the Air Force life she shared with Gale. They lived in France, where her fourth child was born, Venezuela and six different states. She enjoyed her role as a full-time, actively involved mother, believing it was the most important of her life. She was a devoted wife who participated fully in Gale’s military career. She was proud of the fact her father, brother and one son had also served.
Becky and Gale spent most of their years after his 1968 retirement in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She worked at Colorado college, and had also worked at Southern Illinois University. She suffered many losses, but was still able to participate in a meaningful social life. Her friends and neighbors appreciated her concerned and generous nature.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband Gale and three sons Bruce, Brian and Michael. She had also lost her parents, her brother George Roy Weingartner Jr. and his son Wendell. She is survived by her daughter Sherry Dodson of Moscow, Idaho. She also leaves her niece Paula Kay Weingartner, two daughter-in-laws, three step-nieces, one grandson and her lifelong friend Jean Erwin.
Becky will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery Colorado Springs September first. Memorials may be donated to any seeing eye dog organization.
