Louise Jessen

November 13, 1920 — March 12, 2016

Louise Jessen of Moscow, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Kindred Health Care Aspen Park due to causes related to age. She was 95. The youngest of four, Louise was born to John and Helen (Hunt) Whalen on November 13, 1920 in Morrisville, PA and joined her siblings, Helen, John and Edward. Louise graduated from Cathedral High School in 1938. Following high school Louise went to work for Hy-Grade Meats in Trenton, New Jersey. She married William Jessen on December 16, 1942 in Trenton. Their only child Lynn was born in 1944 while Bill was with the U.S. Army in Germany. In 1956 Louise went to work in accounting for New Jersey Bell, later Verizon, and retired in 1976, to "Relax and Enjoy life". Bill passed away in 1988, so on 1993 she moved to Moscow, ID to be near family. She resided at Good Samaritan Village apartments for several years where she made many new friends. Ill health caused her to move to Clark House assisted living and then to Aspen Park. Louise enjoyed traveling with her lifelong high school friends, Jean, Gert, and Eileen with whom she had many adventures over the years, going on many cruises and trips to the Jersey Shore and visiting her dear friend Betty Rose in Arizona many times to enjoy the sun and do some swimming that she really loved. Louise is survived by her daughter and husband, Lynn and Roy Gettings, grandchildren Mike and Colleen Gettings, Sheryl and Wayne Robinson, Dan and Shannon Gettings and Dave and Christi Gettings. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. John Grauke and the staff at Aspen Park for their wonderful care throughout the years. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday March 19, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow, with a meal to follow at St. Mary's Family Center.
