Lynn J. Farnworth

October 8, 1944 — October 7, 2025

Lynn Joseph Farnworth was born Oct 8, 1944 in Hailey, Idaho to Alice Irene (Clark) and Wilbur Eugene Farnworth. He was the second of three children. He grew up farming in Carey, Idaho and loved to talk about riding his horse to school and spending time with his pet pig, Rosie. He was elected the Idaho State Secretary of FFA and graduated in a class of 14 from Carey High School in 1962.
A pivotal point in his life was serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was called to the Franco-Belgium mission and had his first ride on an airplane. He served from Aug 1964 to April 1967, coming home with a love for everything French.
He attended Ricks College (BYU-I), BYU, and University of Idaho, earning a teaching degree and later a law degree. He taught high school for five years, becoming the president of the Foreign Language Teachers chapter, and with his wife took a group of students to Europe for a month long field trip.
Dad met and married Sarah Hall after a brief courtship and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on Dec 1, 1967. They raised five daughters and a grandson. They made their home in Moscow, Idaho where Dad was an attorney for twenty years.
Dad was always optimistic and supportive of all his familie's endeavors. He taught his daughters the value of hard work, to see both sides of an issue, and what an off-sides penalty is. He could have a conversation with anyone and loved to tease. He cherished his time with the Red Cross helping with many disasters through the years. Altogether, he and mom travelled to sixty six countries during their marriage.
Lynn passed away due to complications from Parkinson's on Oct 7, 2025. Family was the most important thing in Dad's life and he is survived by his wife, Sarah, sister, Ina Cardon, daughters Tirsa (Cary) Myler, Tamra (Jason) Karl, Shari (Ron) Woodbury, Katie Farnworth, Kristina (Josh) Taylor, seventeen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. We are grateful to be a part of his forever family.
