Margaret Remington

June 12, 1942 — August 28, 2024

We are saddened to announce the passing of Margaret Ann Remington on August 28, 2024.   Marge, as she was known to many, was born to Clyde and Evelyn (Kroeger) Myers on June 12th, 1942 in Rio Tinto, Nevada.

Margaret’s first love was Jesus, evidenced by the hours she would spend as a youngster reading the Bible and quizzing her sisters on the stories found therein.  She also invested time in her youth to 4-H, and the effort paid off as she won several blue ribbons for her sewing and modeling projects.

In high school, Margaret took up the clarinet, which she played all four years, earning the 1st chair spot.  Marge also participated in cheerleading during this time.  She graduated from Castleford High School in 1960 as Salutatorian.

The next thing Margaret took on was nursing, and she attended Concordia Nursing School in Portland, Oregon for a year, though her career interests eventually shifted to a different part of the healthcare system.  She worked for Sierra Life Insurance, then Pennywise Drug.  Eventually she became a cashier, working at several locations of Albertson’s and Safeway brand grocery stores.  The last position she held was at the Safeway in Moscow, where she worked from 1976 to her retirement.

In 1962, Margaret married Tom Elroy Remington in a double ceremony where her sister Wanda married Dave Wright, on August 31st at the Clover Trinity Church.  Although Tom and Marge later divorced, the memory of sharing that day with family is surely precious.

Margaret’s journey of life has taken her over much of the great state of Idaho and elsewhere.  From Castleford, Idaho to Portland, Oregon then back to Idaho where she has lived and worked in Filer and Twin Falls, Rexburg and Moscow, out to Logan, Utah, and back to her final home in Caldwell, Idaho. Marge has brought the light of Christ, and a love for plants, pastries, and photography to those closest to her.  She has grown roses and raspberries.  She has provided Sunday dinners and holiday feasts to her loved ones, and was rarely unable to offer homemade cookies to everyone who visited.  She took photos of her Moscow Garden Club colleagues and their efforts and successes, and these she turned into photo albums they cherish to this day.  She adored participating in Bunko group in Moscow and several women’s church activities at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Verlin, and her daughter Katherine.  She is survived by siblings Wanda (Dave) Wright, Loretta Dey, and Rosemary Jane Newbry; children Janine (Scott) Remington, Tom (Michelle) Remington, and Wade Remington; grandchildren Emily and Maryele; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 28th, 2024 at 11am at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Moscow, Idaho.

Margaret cherished all the time she spent with family and friends, and we in turn knew her for a truly kind and loving person.
