Mark Don Dellinger, born on March 31, 1954, in Buffalo, New York, passed away on May 14, 2026, in Moscow, Idaho.
Mark's early years were spent in Detroit before he attended Midpark High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He went on to pursue higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University (Earth Science) and a Master of Science degree (Geography) from the College of Mines at the University of Idaho.
Throughout his career Mark contributed to several institutions including the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon, the City of West Richland, Washington, and the County of Lake. He served as a Geothermal Resource Coordinator, Resource Manager, and Specialist Districts Administrator for the County of Lake overseeing multiple water, sewer and electrical districts. He was a major force in the implementation of the Southeast Geysers Effluent Pipeline and Clear Lake Basin 2000 projects in Lake County, California. After a dedicated career with numerous awards for his commitment to Lake County and the geothermal steam field development, Mark retired from Special Districts in 2016. He moved back to Moscow, Idaho in August of 2019, where he continued to work as a consultant on utility and geothermal concerns in California.
Mark had a variety of interests and hobbies that enriched his life. He enjoyed waterfowl and upland game hunting, retriever training, AKC hunt tests, savoring red wine, traveling, and studying geology. These passions reflect a life well-lived and a deep connection with science, nature and exploration.
Mark is survived by his wife, Carol Dellinger; son Jared (Diana) and beloved grandson Leo Dellinger, son Quinn (Veronica); sister, Melissa Dellinger (Kurt). He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice W. Dellinger, and his mother, Helen I. Dellinger and his sister Michelle Pedersen.
His family and friends will remember Mark for his dedication to his work, his family, his love of the outdoors, interest in renewable energy and the meaningful relationships he built throughout his life with numerous friends all across the country.
In lieu of flowers the family would invite you to leave a donation to charities dearest to Mark.
