Marvin Buster Burnette
August 29, 1937 – June 30, 2026
Marvin Buster Burnette, 88, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 30, 2026.
Born on August 29, 1937, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Buster and Irene Burnette, Marvin was raised on a ranch in Ritter, Oregon, where he learned the value of hard work and developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed riding saddle bronc while attending high school in Long Creek. He later spent much of his life doing what he loved most—working in the woods. Marvin operated heavy equipment for Jim Henderson in Wallowa, Oregon, and later for Jim’s son, Steve, in Idaho, earning the respect of all who knew him through his dedication and strong work ethic.
On June 1, 1957, Marvin married the love of his life, Lillian, in Long Creek, Oregon. Together they shared more than 69 years of love, faith, and devotion to their family.
Marvin loved the outdoors. Whether walking in the woods, hunting, gold mining, collecting horns and bottles, or watching wildlife, he found peace and joy in nature. He especially cherished the time spent there with his family.
Known for his kind heart and gentle spirit, Marvin never met a stranger. He loved visiting with people, offering a helping hand, and treating everyone with genuine kindness and respect.
Marvin is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian; his children, Mike (Tammi), Toni, Debbie (Tim), Casey (Lance), and Corey; his grandchildren, Guy (Adena), Randy, Monica (Kendi), Sierra, Jill, Mike (Steph), Tim (Tamara), Jeff (Stephanie), Casey (Serena), Kori (Mike), Crystal (Charles), Tia (John), Shelby (Zach), Buster (Kaity), Samantha, Paris, and Penny; numerous great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Marvin’s legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the example of kindness, integrity, and hard work he set for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
