Mary Armstrong

Mary Elizabeth Armstrong of Moscow died at home on Thursday, October 22, 2015. She was 54. Mary was born August 1, 1961 in Salmon, Idaho to Terry R. and Patricia A. Havemann Armstrong. The family moved to Moscow where Mary grew up, attended school and graduated from Moscow High School. She then attended the University of Idaho graduating with her Bachelors degree in Spanish. She taught high school Spanish for several years in Washington. Mary enjoyed music and history, but above all else, cherished being a mother and grandmother. Her love and compassion extended to the community as well. She was active in an assortment of organizations that truly tied her to the community she loved. Mary is survived by her mother, Patricia Armstrong of Moscow; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Bessey and her grandson, Jace of St. Maries, Idaho and her son, John Surmeyer of Moscow. She was preceded in death by her father in January of 2014. Mary is loved and remembered by many. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 29th at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow.
