Max B Blood passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Moscow, ID on December 15, 2025, just shy of his 90th birthday. Max was born February 1, 1936, the son of Thelma Burgener Blood and Ray Blood in the small mountain town of Midway, Utah.
His youth was spent in the mountains; fishing, hunting, and riding horses (and causing a fair amount of innocent trouble as most youths do). As an adult, he became a skilled carpenter, following in the footsteps of his renowned woodworking grandfather, Moroni Blood, whose intricate word carvings adorn many of the historic houses in Midway to this day. With his first wife Kathy Spanos Blood, he raised four children and built houses, schools, college dorms, and buildings for the 1974 World’s Fair, and so much more, eventually retiring as the Director of Facility Services at Washington State University. He also continued his pursuits of fishing, hunting, and horseback riding.
Max was proceeded in death by his first wife, Kathy Blood; second wife, Charlotta Blood; and his stepsons Christopher Munn and Kim Baughman. He is survived by his four children, Jake Blood and his wife Cynthia of Burnsville, NC; Kristine Wilkerson and her husband Mark of Edgerton, WI; Ross Blood of Moscow, ID; Thad Blood and his wife Dyana of Medical Lake, WA; and his stepdaughter Marigay Altman of Spokane, WA; and by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Max did not want a funeral, and we will honor his wishes. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity in his memory.
