Nancy Jean Blewett

Nancy Jean Blewett passed from this life into the Presence of God at 2:10 A.M on July 12, 2016 after a six year illness caused by the disease COPD. Nancy spent her last days at her Genesee home and passed peacefully in the presence of her family. Nancy was born Nancy Jean Duff in the winter of 1947. Her parents were Eugene R. Duff and Doris R. Duff of Spokane, WA. Nancy, her sister Connie (Constance Joan Duff), and her mother and father moved back to Lewiston, Idaho, when Nancy was a toddler. Nancy attended Lewiston schools and enjoyed being on the drill team and spent many hours enjoying the beach. In 1964, Nancy married Phillip C. Lee and from that union came her only child Phillip E. Lee. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1968 and Nancy married Tom Blewett in 1975. Tom survives at the couples' home in Genesee, Idaho. Phillip, her son, resides in Moscow along with his wife LeAn and two sons Alec and Isaiah. In 1977 the family moved to Moscow, where Tom received a commission as a Deputy Sheriff for the Latah County Sheriff's Office as a Field Deputy. A short time after their move, Nancy took a job as a waitress working at the Nobby Inn in Moscow. Nancy became the "unofficial" neighborhood barber and enjoyed cutting and styling hair for neighbors, friends and family. In 1979 Nancy enrolled in Mr. Leon's School of Hair Design and completed the required 2,000 hours of training to become a Cosmetologist. Upon graduation she was hired by Mr. Leon Cover and began work at Hair Designer's Inc. on Third St. in Moscow. Idaho. In 1983 Nancy was promoted to manager of the salon and in 1985 she and her husband Tom purchased the salon from the Cover family. In 1987 her son Phillip joined the business. The salon thrived through the 1980s the 1990s and on into the 21st century. In 2007, Nancy and Tom sold the business to son Phil and his wife LeAn and she retired in 2008 due to health issues. Nancy's hobbies were roller-blading, snow skiing, swimming, motorcycle riding and managing the daily care of her beloved kitties. When she was in motorcycle mode, she preferred to ride her own Honda Shadow and made several long distance trips with her husband throughout the Northwest and Mountain States. Her heart was in her love for, and devotion to, Jesus Christ and to outreaches that ministered to the poor, helpless, and forgotten. She will be remember for her rapier like wit and giving heart! The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 16th at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow with Pastor Michael Richardson of Valley Christian Center of Lewiston officiating. Burial will follow at the Genesee City Cemetery. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be at the Genesee Senior Center following. The family suggests memorials be made to the Genesee Ambulance Fund.
