Nancy Carter, of Moscow died Monday April 28, 2025 at Hill House Memory Care in Moscow. She was 85.
Nancy was born September 9, 1939. She was raised in and around Moscow, Idaho. She attended Moscow schools and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1962. She earned her degree in psychology from the college of Letters and Science.
Nancy’s career started with the State of Idaho in Wallace in the Department of Public Assistance. She assessed clients for eligibility for benefits. After a year or so, Nancy got promoted to Hayley, Idaho.
She left the employment with the State of Idaho and worked for a variety of employers in various locations(from Illinois to Texas). School districts, universities, and private businesses were among her employers including Washington State University and University of Idaho.
Nancy took early retirement from the U of I to take care of her mother at her family home. One of her undertakings there was to make cookies for family members for their birthday as well as dozens at Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. This earned her the nick name “Aunt Cookie.”
After her mother passed in 2000, Nancy gave care to a few individuals in their homes.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father Mel Carter, mother Betty Sinclair, stepfather Don Sinclair, and brother Jim Carter.
She is survived by four siblings Rob Sinclair in Moscow, Nola (Geoff) Colvin in Eugene Oregon, Don Gregg Sinclair in Moscow, Diana (Bill) Mabbutt in Moscow and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Best Western University Inn Gold Room.
