Oscar David Wagar

January 28, 1942 — August 15, 2024

David, affectionately known to his family and friends, was born on January 28, 1942, to Oscar and Bernice Wagar in Genesee, Idaho. He grew up in Genesee, attending local public schools and graduating with the class of 1960.

In 1963, David enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a Nike Hercules Missile Crewman. His military service took him to Crete, Nebraska, and Baumholder, Germany. He was honorably discharged in October of 1966 from Fort Hamilton, New York.

Upon returning home to Genesee, David began a 40-year career at Genesee Union Warehouse. He was also a dedicated member of his community, serving on the Genesee City Council for 10 years and the Genesee Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years.

In 1967, David married Linda Reynolds, and together they had four children: Dena, Shar, Shileen, and Stacy. The couple later divorced.

David had a passion for fishing, snowmobiling, and gun collecting. He loved spending time outdoors, especially in Elk River, and had a particular fondness for huckleberry ice cream.

David was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and sister Pamela. He is survived by his brother Jon (Barb) of Mason, Washington; his children Dena (Roszell) Wagar-Smith and grandsons Trevan and Keldyn; Shar (Rob) Marquez and grandchildren Aries, Roman & Marisa, Celeste; Shileen (Toby) Leinweber and grandchildren Taeh, Taran, Taylor, Alex; Stacy Wagar and grandchildren Rick, Chloe.
