Patricia L Shirley

Patricia Louise Shirley, 81, passed on to be with the Lord Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Sacred Heart medical center in Spokane.

Pat was born August 7, 1936, to Henry and Delphine Flerchinger, in Genesee ID.

Although a Genesee native, she set out early on to see the country.  Pat married Bill Shirley at Genesee January 17, 1959 and they travelled to military stations from coast to coast.  After 11 years as a devoted military spouse they moved the family back to her roots; Genesee, where she lived for 47 years before moving to Evergreen Estates Retirement Facility in Clarkston in Dec. 2017.

Pat was a nurturing mother of six children; however, Aunt Pat as she was called by so many, was always there for all children.  Her caring heart knew no boundaries and it was not uncommon to see her mend a scraped knee or help mentor someone in need of a little direction.

A woman of many talents is an understatement, she was a licensed beautician, a genius at sewing and would be harvesting in a combine one day and quilting a masterpiece the next.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Bill Shirley, father, Henry Flerchinger, and her mother Delphine Flerchinger.

Pat is survived by her brother, Joyce Flerchinger of Spokane WA, sister, Kathrin Sandmeyer of Bozeman MT; her children, Thomas Shirley of Yakima WA, Darla Campbell of Renton WA, Cheryl Shirley of Hayden ID, Brad Shirley of Livingston TX, Deanne Shirley of Clarkston WA and Dean Shirley of Phoenix AZ.  Pat has eight grand-children, Jeremiah, Sausha, Whitney, Bailey, Tyler, Brittany, Molly, and Nora, and five great grand-children, Judah, Makayla, Georgia, Audrey, and Gabriel.

The vigil will be held 8:30 a.m. Saturday, August 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Genesee followed by the funeral mass at 9 a.m.  Friends are invited to join the family at the ceremony.  Following funeral mass, friends are invited to the graveside service at Genesee Catholic Cemetery and then join the family at the Genesee Fire Hall for food and fellowship.
