Phillip L. Gatlin

August 30, 1941 — September 15, 2023

Phillip L. Gatlin, 82, passed away on September 15, 2023, in Moscow, ID. He was born on August 30, 1941, in Spokane, WA, to the late Ray and Helen Gatlin. Phillip is survived by his sister Linda Fricke and  his children Andrea (Kevin) Crosson, Karen (Mike Manley) Gatlin, and Alan (Rhodora) Gatlin, as well as his grandchildren Andrew McGraw, Ryan McGraw, Sofia Crosson, and Kara Manley..

Phillip had a fulfilling career that spanned several decades. He served in the United States Army from 1963-1965. From 1966 to 1987, he worked as a dedicated baker for Rousauers Supermarket. In 1987, he transitioned into a new role as the Fire Chief for the city of Moscow, where he served with distinction until 1997. Phillip was a proud member of the Moscow Volunteer Fire & EMS from 1975 to 1997. In 1980 he was awarded Idaho Firefighter of the Year.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Phillip had a passion for camping. He enjoyed spending time in nature, exploring the great outdoors, and creating lasting memories with his loved ones.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Phillip's life will be held on September 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Shorts Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department.

Phillip L. Gatlin will be deeply missed by his loved ones and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
