Phyllis Lois (Barnhill) Janke

Phyllis Lois Janke, nee Barnhill passed away August 20, 2024 at her home in Deary, Idaho after a short illness. She was born July 1, 1942 and recently celebrated her 82nd birthday. She lived in Washougal, Washington and graduated from Washougal High School and from there enrolled in Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1963 and was licensed as a Registered Nurse in Oregon and Washington. She worked at various hospitals, including Physicians and Surgeons Hospital in Portland, Oregon. There she met Larry Janke, a Medical Technologist. They were married September 4, 1966 in Washougal. They lived most of their years near Scappoose, Oregon, moving to Deary, Idaho in 2012. She pursued many areas of nursing practice and returned to school at Linfield College where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree of Science in Nursing in 1990. She retired in 2001 from Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital in Portland, Oregon as an Administrative Nursing Supervisor. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, sewing, gardening and walking with her dogs.

She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Larry Janke of Deary, Idaho. Daughter, Stephanie Jones (Alan) of Washougal, Washington. Son, Andrew Janke(Krista) of Scappoose, Oregon. Grandchildren, Rachel Oedewaldt, Braeden Oedewaldt and Andrew Janke, Jr. She wished her ashes to be placed on top of the hill over looking the house along with those of some of her dogs.
