Richard "Dick" Baysinger

March 6, 1922 — November 18, 2014

Richard "Dick" Baysinger passed away on November 14 in Wenatchee, Washington. Dick was born on March 6, 1922, in Casper, Wyoming, to Tallemon and Rose (Ritschard) Baysinger. He graduated from high school in Lingle, Wyoming. Dick joined the Army and served as a paratrooper with the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team during World War II. He was wounded while serving his country, was honorably discharged, and received the Purple Heart. After his discharge he moved to Moscow, Idaho, where he met Donna Hites. They were married in 1947 and had sons Rickie and Charles. They divorced in 1971 and Dick moved to Wenatchee, Washington, where he was employed as a sheet metal worker for Wells and Wade. Dick loved to sing and was a member of the "Extra Fancy" Barbershop Quartet in Wenatchee for many years. He also played the piano and the accordion. Dick excelled at pool and loved to share his knowledge with those interested in improving their skills both in Wenatchee and in Moscow. He played in a league in Moscow until he was 92. He and Rick cut firewood until he was 80 years old. He is survived by sons Rick (Jodie) of Wenatchee, Washington; and Chuck (Cheryl) of Moscow, Idaho; sister Berniece Marlin, Torrington, Wyoming; brother Orrie Baysinger, Las Vegas, Nevada; sister in law Gretha Baysinger of Arvada, Colorado, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in the Torrington, Wyoming area. Dick was predeceased by his parents, step father Charlie Hood, brother Lyle and grandson Mickey. Special thanks to Barbara Rutherford of the Wenatchee Veterans Clinic, Bonaventure staff, and Central Washington Hospital hospice volunteers Gail and Kim for their assistance and care as dad's health declined. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Moscow Cemetery with Military Honors.
