Robert Graff

October 30, 1945 — April 16, 2015

Robert W. "Jock" Graff, of Moscow, died Thursday April 16, 2015 at his home in Moscow, surrounded by friends and family. He was 69. "Wandering spirits, if indeed ye wander ... grant me this faint happiness, or take me, as your companion from the joys of life." - Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Jock was born October 30, 1945 in Waukegan, Illinois. He grew up and attended school in Maroa, IL, graduating in 1963. Immediately following graduation, Jock joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years. After leaving the service, he attended Loyola University in Chicago receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Throughout the years Jock worked as a commodities trader and for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census. While living in Champaign, Illinois, he met Elizabeth More, and they were married in 1998 at the Cathedral of the Pines in New Hampshire while living in New England. They moved to Moscow in 2007 as friends and co-parents of their daughter, Norea, and enjoyed the life that Moscow offers. Jock loved to read and could be often found at the library. He enjoyed philosophy, nature-based spirituality, feminist theory, and was always good for a profound conversation. Jock was a rare soul, full of heart, and touched the very essence of being with all he met. He will be deeply missed, yet alive in the hearts of those who knew him. Fly on, great winged spirit. Jock is survived by Elizabeth and their child, Norea Graff; children, Wayne Graff, Courtney Jordan, and Christopher Graff; and grandchildren Victoria Graff, Nyssa Jordan and Conner Jordan. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in Jock's name be made to the Latah County Library District. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their gratitude to John Dunn and Family, Gentiva Hospice and Volunteers, Northwest Cancer Care, Wayne Graff and Family, all their loved ones, and the Moscow community for their support through this trying time.
