We announce the passing of our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ronald Chris Fountain, who departed this life on July 11, 2025, at the age of 79. He fought a valiant battle against Parkinson’s Disease for 24 years. He lived with a brave and determined heart and did not live like a victim of the disease. This alone was an example of fortitude and resilience to everyone who knew him.
Ron was born on August 27, 1945, in Moscow, Idaho. He was a devoted and loving family man, cherished by his wife of 35 years, Barbara J. Fountain, and their children: Dawn Roskelley, Patrisha Fountain, Tamara Fountain, Heather (Dan) Taff, Christopher Fountain, and Amber (Jeff) McGuire. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a joyful great-grandfather to three. He is also remembered with love by his siblings: Craig (Enid) Fountain, Steve (Andrea) Fountain, Tim Fountain, Wendy (Jim) Clark, and Lance Fountain. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Ella Fountain of Moscow, to whom he was a selfless and devoted son.
Ron lived a passionate, faith-driven life anchored in his belief in God’s unconditional love. Guided by the Holy Spirit, he embraced agape love—unwavering, selfless care for others—which he expressed in his relationships, work, and service to the community.
An entrepreneur with a vision, Ron graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s degree in business and went on to build a successful flying service and industrial park. More than a business, it was a mission rooted in generosity and purpose—a platform to uplift others and invest in the success of his family and community. As a pilot, crop duster, flight instructor, and property owner, he worked closely with the City of Moscow and Latah County, always striving for projects that would benefit not only his own enterprise but the region as a whole.
He also held a Master’s degree in counseling, which he used to bring hope and guidance to many, including years of heartfelt ministry to the men at the Latah County Jail. A flight instructor, he contracted with the University of Idaho’s ROTC program during the Vietnam War. Ron’s life was marked by service and a deep desire to invest in others’ growth.
A man of many passions, Ron was an aficionado of local history and a devoted scholar of Lewis & Clark’s expeditions. He often retraced their trails on cross-country road trips, combining his love of adventure, heritage, and the outdoors. He was an active member and prayer warrior in his local church, always seeking to encourage and lift others in their faith.
Ron had a unique gift: the ability to see potential in others and nurture it with patience, insight, and love. He inspired those around him to live boldly, love deeply, and pursue their purpose with faith and courage. Whether mentoring a young entrepreneur, praying with a neighbor, or telling stories of history, Ron led by example, leaving a legacy of compassion, determination, and joy.
His light continues to shine in the hearts of those he touched.
Isaiah 61:3 says:
“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness: that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of theLord, that he might be glorified.” This verse encapsulates his heart’s cry to restore and renew the hurts of those he loved and served, to strive for beauty in the midst of ashes, to build joy instead of mourning and to foster a spirit of praise and in all of this to bring glory to God.
A service to honor Ron’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene, 1400 E 7th St Moscow, ID followed by a celebration of life at the 1912 Center, 412 E 3rd St Moscow, ID.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Ron’s memory to carry on his legacy by supporting others, spreading kindness, and putting love into action.
