Sarah Hall Farnworth was born 17 September 1947 in Wendell, Idaho to Ira Kimball Hall and Alice Abigail (Ottley) Hall. She was their 10th child. Growing up in a rural farming family she enjoyed gathering pine nuts from pinyon pines, playing marbles and reading poetry.
She developed a life-long bond with her older sister Julia that was strengthened when she went to live with her in California for the 8th grade and again as a high school junior. For a small town farm girl living in the big city was a treat. In 1965 she graduated as the valedictorian from a class of 18 people in Mackay, Idaho.
Coming to the University of Idaho was an adventure. Voted the campus sweetheart by church Institute students in 1966, she had dreams of being an archaeologist or interior designer. She met Lynn the summer of 1967 and after a brief courtship they were married 1 December 1967 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
She and Lynn raised 5 daughters and a grandson in Moscow, Idaho. Sarah devoted her life to her family. She taught us to cook, garden, sew, love reading, history, and travel. She looked forward to any opportunity to gather with family members and loved every member of her family fiercely. Her life was an example of unconditional love, patience, and forgiveness.
Sarah passed away 28 February 2026 in Spokane, WA due to complications associated with heart failure. She is survived by two brothers, five devoted daughters, four sons-in-laws, seventeen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She expressed sadness that she had not yet met two of her great-grandchildren. We will share with them her love for them, for her Savior Jesus Christ, and her unshakeable faith that theirs is an eternal bond.
Mom, our hearts ache at the loss of your presence. You were the hub of our family; you kept us connected. We are better people because of your influence. For 78 years you lived in service to others. Words are never enough to thank you for everything you were and did. We love you forever.
