Scott Oliveira passed away peacefully at the age of 59, surrounded by his family.
Born in San Diego, California, in 1965, Scott graduated from Mount Miguel High School and spent his early adult years working as an auto mechanic—a career that came naturally to someone who could fix just about anything.
Scott married Louise Uthman in 1987 in Spring Valley, California. Five years later, they moved to Moscow, Idaho, with their three children—Chris, Nicole, and Jason—where he led maintenance operations at the family-owned Mark IV Motor Inn and later at St. Mary’s Catholic School. For the past four years, he enjoyed his work at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.
Outside of work, Scott found joy in building and flying model airplanes, hunting, and fishing. He was known in the community not just for his technical abilities, but for his selflessness. Scott never hesitated to lend a hand to someone in need—even when it meant going well out of his way. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; his children, Chris, Nicole, and Jason; his sister, Donna; his brother, Greg; his mother, Marjorie; his daughter-in-law, Ariel; and his granddaughter, Penelope.
Scott’s legacy is one of generosity, care, and unwavering support for his family and community. He will be deeply missed. A graveside service will be held at the Moscow Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 5th.
A memorial service, open to all, will be held at Elks Golf Course on the Troy Highway at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 1st. Dress is casual.
