Steven Richard Cochran

Aug 24, 1990 — Sep 26, 2026

Moscow, ID

Steven Richard Cochran passed away at his home on September 26, 2026, after facing medical and mental health challenges. He was 36 years old.

Steven was born in Oakland, California, on August 24, 1990, and was raised in Moscow, Idaho. He later moved to Portland, Oregon, where he graduated from the Oregon Culinary Institute in April of 2015 with a diploma in Culinary Arts. He then began building a career around something he genuinely loved: food. Steven had the opportunity to work alongside many talented chefs throughout the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, learning from each experience and developing his own appreciation for cooking, good food, and the people who share it.

Steven had a wide range of interests. He was a big sports fan, especially when it came to baseball. He had a particular admiration for the Oakland A’s and enjoyed both playing and watching the game. He also followed the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners and loved keeping up with the teams and games he cared about. Outside of sports, Steven enjoyed retro video games and baseball and Pokemon trading cards, hobbies that brought him plenty of entertainment and memories over the years.

He also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Steven enjoyed getting away from everything and spending time in the mountains, whether that meant going on an aimless hike, taking a long drive with no particular destination, or simply finding a quiet place to enjoy nature. He appreciated the freedom of being outside and the chance to get away from the noise of everyday life.

One of Steven’s greatest loves was his dog, a Dutch Shepherd, named Dozer. Dozer was more than just a dog to Steven; he was his companion and an important part of his life. Steven leaves behind his beloved Dozer, who will undoubtedly miss his best friend.

Steven is survived by both his parents, Gerald Cochran and Kathy Cochran (both of Moscow, ID); his sister, Jessica Cochran (Clarkston, WA); his niece, Mira Cope (Clarkston, WA); his Aunt Vicki (Jeff) Weiss (Napa, CA); his Aunt Deidre (Troy) Dressen (Spokane, WA); his Uncle Mark Cochran (Spokane, WA); his Aunt Heather (Dave) Valdez (Grand Forks, ND) and many cousins and extended family members, and friends who loved him and will remember him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents (Diane Moore and Charles Moore, both of Northern California); paternal grandparents (Marilyn Attebery and Ron Cochran, both of Spokane, WA); his Aunt Marcie Stearns (Clarkston, WA); his Cousin Kelly Cochran (Spokane, WA) and his Cousin Shannon Cochran (Spokane, WA).

Steven will be remembered for the things that made him who he was: his love of food, sports, games, the outdoors, and especially the animals and people he cared about. He will be deeply missed by his family and Dozer.

The family wishes to hold a small private memorial service at a later date. For anyone who loved and knew Steven, near and far, are welcome to attend his Celebration of Life. It will be held at the Eagles Lodge in Moscow, Idaho on Saturday, October, 10th, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
