Thayne Bollman

Our beloved father, Thayne Harlan Bollman passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 17, 2018. He lived in Troy, Idaho and was 86 years old. Thayne was born September 10, 1931 in Barron, Wisconsin to James and Edna (Hunt) Bollman. He grew up in Bruce, Wisconsin on his family owned, riverside, dairy farm. He attended a one room elementary school with his six siblings and cousins, in Bruce. He went to high school and graduated in a nearby town of Ladysmith, WI. After graduation, he moved to Madison, WI to work as a carpenter. While at an evangelistic church camp service in Iowa, he met his sweetheart Phyllis (French) and three months later they were married in Oskaloosa, Iowa on March 2, 1951. They made their first home in Madison where he continued working in construction, and also served in the Wisconsin National Guard. In 1960, Thayne moved his family to the Seattle, WA area, where he worked for Boeing Aviation for a time, later returning to work as a carpenter and a backhoe operator. The family moved to Troy, ID in 1971, where he continued his trade, and enjoyed wintering with his wife in Arizona for many years. Thayne was a devoted Christian, and an active church member. He led Bible studies, taught Sunday school, and served as a deacon for many years. He was currently a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Moscow, ID. He enjoyed using his carpentry skills serving on short-term mission trips to Brazil, the Philippines, Africa, Nicaragua and Mexico. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family members. Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Phyllis of Troy, ID, a daughter Karen (Rod) Krueger of Seabrook, WA and four sons, Randy (Judy) Bollman of Maple Valley, WA, Brad (Julie) Bollman of Troy, ID, Todd Bollman of Uniontown, WA and Jeff (De) Bollman of Troy, ID. He leaves 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also, surviving are his brother Rodney (Ruth) Bollman and four sisters Shirlee (Dan) DeCoto , Nancy (Gary) Prosise all in Arizona, Diane Shelton and Judy Whittington both in Wisconsin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Thayne was preceded in death by his brother Phillip, an infant sister Gloria and a great-granddaughter Alli Anne Marie Bollman. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the mission school that Thayne helped to build. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Moscow, Idaho later this spring and will be announced when details are set.
