Thomas G. Boyd of Genesee died Monday, July 27, 2015 at Aspen Park Healthcare in Moscow. He was 86. Tom was born September 5, 1928 at Filer, Idaho to Cecil W. and Gladys Craven Boyd. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1946, and came to Moscow to attend the University of Idaho, graduating with a business degree in 1951. Just a few days later he married Beverly Bressler at the Genesee Community Church on June 6, 1951, honeymooning in California. While at the University of Idaho, Tom was in the ROTC program, and upon graduation and his marriage, the couple spent the next three years in California, fulfilling his Air Force commitment. They then moved to the Twin Falls area where Tom farmed and Beverly taught school. They relocated to Genesee where Tom went to work for Asgrow, a position that took the family to New York from 1959-1962. They then began farming full time near Genesee. Their son, Jeff, now operates the farm. Tom was elected to the Idaho House of Representatives in 1976, a position he held until his retirement in 1992, serving as speaker the last 6 years. Tom was a member of the Pea and Lentil Commission, served on the Genesee School Board, the State School Board, Genesee Union Board, a 50 year member of Unity Lodge No. 32, A.F.& A.M., the Calam Shrine Temple, Latah County Republicans, Vandal Boosters and was recipient of the Alumni Award from the University of Idaho. Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly, at their Genesee home, son Jeff (Rindi) Boyd of Genesee, and daughters, Lisa Boyd-Anderson (Jay) of Genesee and Tracy (Pete) Greco of Wasilla, Alaska. Tom also leaves 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren along with a brother, Jerry Boyd of Twin Falls, ID and a sister, Mary Hays of Bonners Ferry, ID. In addition to his parents, a sister Celia died previously. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 31st at 2:30 PM at the Genesee Community Church. Pastor Adam Bentley will officiate and burial will follow at the Genesee City Cemetery. Members of the Bielenberg-Schooler Post #58, American Legion, will provide military honors and a reception will be at the Genesee Fire Hall afterward. The family suggests memorials be made to the Genesee Ambulance Fund or to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Spokane.
