Turid Oddveig Knapik, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on 6/6/2025 at the age of 83.
Born on 10/26/1941 in Eikefjord Norway, Turie was the daughter of Torfinn and Herlaug Veien. The family came to the Unites States in 1948 and they settled in Troy, Idaho where they farmed. Turie graduated from Troy High School in 1960.
Throughout her life, Turie was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. She married Frank (Skip) Knapik on 9/11/1965, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they raised two children: Bryan and Anna-Lise, who will forever be grateful for her love and support.
Turie had a passion for being at her grandkids every sporting event, baking pies, cinnamon twists and cooking meals for everyone, which she enjoyed with great enthusiasm. She was known for her amazing baking, and her BESTA tag (Grandma in Norwegian) will always be remembered by those who knew her best.
Turie is survived by Skip, Bryan (Melissa) and Anna-Lise. Along with six grandchildren, Bryson (Madi), Ayden, Dakota, Peyton, Karsyn and Nathan along with many other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
A viewing service to honor and say goodbye to Turie's life will be held at Mueller’s Funeral Home, located at 1401 S Union St Kennewick, WA 99338, on 6/12/2025 from 1:00 to 5:00pm. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects and share their memories.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Turie’s life will be held at Short’s Funeral Home, located at 1225 E 6th St. Moscow, ID 83843 on Saturday 6-14-25 at 11:00am. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects and share their memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Turie Knapik's memory to Alzheimer’s Association, which was near and dear to her heart.
Turie loved her IDAHO Vandals Football dearly and never missed a chance to cheer them on.
