Vicki Rae Nelson-Kleve, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, departed from this world on February 17, 2025. Vicki was born on April 23,1945 in Moscow, Idaho, and throughout her life, touched the hearts of many with her kindness, generosity, and taking joy in simple pleasures.
Vicki spent her early years in Troy, graduating Troy High School in 1963. She was married for 25 years to Jim Nelson, also of Troy. They had two sons, Michael and Jay, who remember their mother with love, and a daughter who died at birth. Vicki later married John Kleve, and remained married for 32 years until her passing. John cared for Vicki at home in her final years as she battled Alzheimer’s, and he has her family’s immense gratitude for his loving care during that difficult time. Vicki was preceded in passing by her father Ed, mother Maude, and brother Gary.
Vicki was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life, and in her moves across Idaho, Washington and Oregon made each place feel welcoming. She also worked at times as a beautician, house cleaner, medical office worker, and hair salon owner. She liked to shop for antiques and décor, and left behind an impressive array of country collectibles. She also liked accompanying John to classic car shows. She always had a word search and a cup of coffee next to her chair. Vicki loved being a grandmother and took joy in her three granddaughters’ accomplishments. She was known for her friendliness, warmth, gentle laugh, and unwavering support for her family.
As we mourn the loss of Vicki, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on this world. A memorial service will be held March 14 in Moscow, Idaho at Shorts Funeral Home, where friends and family are invited to gather and honor her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. www.alz.org/help-support
