Wayne Stuart Belles went home to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of January 22, 2016. He died of pancreatic cancer. He was born to Clarence and Alice Belles on July 17, 1937 in Sedro Woolley, Washington. After graduating from Sedro Woolley High School, he received his Bachelors and Masters in Agronomy from Washington State University and his Doctorate in Plant Physiology from University of Arizona. He married Christine Isaac on October 28, 1972 in Fullerton, California. His interests included gardening, identifying weeds, wood working, camping, fishing, reading mystery novels, and making lattes for anyone and everyone. Wayne is survived by his wife Christine, his son David Belles (wife Sharon), daughter Valerie Kato (husband Josh), and daughter Charlene Belles. He is also survived by his nieces Susan Kershner-Winkler, Janet Olson, Alice Nelsen, Linda Bernard, and Kay Kershner. A drop in celebration of his life will be held at the family home on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Memorial donations can be made to The Gideons International, Palouse Land Trust, or Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland.
