William A. "Bill" Deobald

William A. "Bill" Deobald, a longtime Moscow area furniture dealer, died Friday August 22, 2014 at Good Samaritan Moscow Village. He was 90. Bill was born March 27, 1924 to William B. and Elsie Wegner Deobald, in Kendrick, Idaho. He attended Kendrick schools and graduated from Kendrick High School in 1941. He attended the University of Idaho and soon enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp where he served as a B-24 pilot in the Fifteenth Air Force in Italy. After his time in the service Bill returned to Moscow where he married Beulah M. Draper on July 3, 1945, in Moscow. They made their home in Moscow where he graduated from the University of Idaho in 1950. He worked at Pullman Appliance for a time and began at Moscow Furniture in 1955. He and Beulah became owners of the store for ten years until their retirement in 1987. Beulah, his high school sweetheart and wife, passed away on April 27, 2002. He was blessed to share the following years with his special friend, Judy Marineau. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Moscow, Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and the Elks Lodge. He volunteered in the community, and was active with his sons with the Boy Scouts of America. Bill enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, fishing, gardening, bridge, and spending time with his family. Bill is survived by his daughter Barbara (David) Slepnikoff of Rapid City, SD., two sons; Roger (Iva) Deobald of Meridian, ID and Billy (Sue) Deobald of Wake Forest, NC.; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters; Lois (Jim) Legg of Terre Haute, IN, and Gay Keisker of Post Falls ID. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Moscow. A private committal will be held at the Moscow Cemetery with Military Honors. The family suggests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Gentiva Hospice or the University Of Idaho School Of Business.
