William L. "Bill" Ringer

William Louis "Bill" Ringer of Moscow died Tuesday morning, July 11, 2017 at Regency Pullman Care Center. He was 92. Bill was born December 30, 1924 in Potlatch to Louis G. and Anna Caroline Suess Ringer. He grew up and attended Potlatch Schools. He worked farming until he joined the Army in 1943. Bill served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theaters and was awarded a Bronze Star. After his discharge in early 1946, he returned to the area and married Emma Bailey on May 20th in Moscow. They lived in St. John and Palouse for a time, settling in Potlatch. They moved to Moscow in 1962 when Bill went to work for then Panhandle Pre-Mix. The company then became Central Pre-Mix where Bill retired as manager. Bill continued to actively farm until his mid-80's. Bill enjoyed 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He was a member of the Moscow Moose Lodge and volunteered for "meals on wheels" for several years. Bill had been a resident of Creekside Senior Living Community for the past five years. His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of Bill's wonderful friends at Creekside for the fun, food and friendship. He loved it there! He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Emma in 2011, a sister, Ruth Nirk and brother, Norman Ringer. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Mel) Gray of Moscow and Karla (Ron) David of Lewiston. Bill also leaves his grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Gray and Craig (Tammy) Gray and great grandchildren, Tanner, Bailey and Anna and two sisters, Louise Bunn of Colville, WA and Betty Stewart of Portland. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 14th at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Pastor Kathy Kramer of the Elmore United Methodist Church will officiate. Private burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery prior to the service. A reception will follow the service at the Fairfield Inn, 1000 West Pullman Rd., Moscow. The family suggests memorials be made to Friends of Hospice, 115 NW State St., Suite 117, PO Box 484, Pullman, WA 99163.
