William Edward Buckley was born September 12, 1940 in Clarkston, Washington to Carolyn Griffin and John Buckley. Bill was raised on a small farm in Asotin, Washington amid a large extended family. He enjoyed an idylic childhood on Asotin Creek. After high school, Bill signed on with the navy for four years. He shuttled the vice admiral around San Francisco Bay, then based on his perfect record, he was transferred to Clark Air Force base in the Philippines to run their supply depot. After the navy, Bill became a journeyman painter. His final job was managing the painting department for housing at University of Idaho, a job he held for over 30 years before his retirement in 2006.
Bill enjoyed boating, fishing, and his little dogs and especially loved his entire family. He is survived by his wife Pam, sister Betty (Ron) Cameron; daughter, Lisa (David) Hylsky grandchildren Sarah (Paul) Norris, Abby Jo Cramer and Caitlin Eddy; great-grandchildren, Ava Mae Prince and Owen Norris and nephew John Cameron. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Gina (Aaron) Frakes and Lisa (Scott) Dean. Preceding him in death were his baby brother, Larry, and son, Mark Buckley.
Bill went to be with the Lord on Jan. 7, 2016 due to complications following surgery. He died peacefully at the beautiful Hospice of North Idaho. We thank everyone for their care and kindness at both Pullman Regional and Kootenai Hospitals and Hospice of N. Idaho.
