Donnye D. Harris of Moscow passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Tri State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston. She was 80 years old. Donnye was born April 17, 1936 at Gill, Nevada to Eric and Virginia Vail Papenfuss. She grew up in Nevada and graduated from high school in Las Vegas. She married Ronald Harris in Las Vegas on May 11, 1955. While in the Air Force they were stationed in Las Vegas, NV, Pullman, Florida, Japan, and California. They returned to the Moscow /Pullman area several times while in the Military and settled here permanently in 1972 after Ron's retirement. Donnye was employed by Tri State Outfitters, Helbling Bros. and lastly, by Washington State University in the Provost Office, retiring in 1989. She was an avid bowler for nearly 60 years. She served as President of the Moscow Women's Bowling Association, and competed in the Women's Bowling Association National Tournament for 35 years. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Idaho Roadrunners. She enjoyed square dancing, quilting, croqueting, knitting, tending to her roses, chasing after grandchildren then great grandchildren, and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Ginger Harris of Eugene, OR, Leslie (Glen) Hagar of Monroe, NY, Rhonda (Jerry) Thompson of Moscow; and her son, Brad (Deidre) Harris of Hungry Horse, MT. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and her beloved dogs, Angel and Sara. Donnye was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, in 2010, brothers, J.T. and Jack Papenfuss, and her beloved Shih Tzu Monique. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow. A reception and luncheon will follow at St. Mary's Family Center. The family requests memorials be made to Eagles Auxiliary Alzheimer's Fund, PO Box 8163, Moscow, and/or other Local Dementia/ Alzheimer's Care Organizations.
