Glenn Lazelle

Glenn Allen Lazelle passed away at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Glenn was living in Kendrick, Idaho at the time of his passing.
Glenn was born in Colfax, Washington on November 26, 1943, to Delbert Lazelle and Edith Darling Lazelle. The third of four children, he attended Palouse Elementary, transferring to Potlatch Schools in 6th grade with Joanna Blood and Charlene Whitmore.

In looking at the Potlatch High School yearbooks of 1961 (Junior Year) and 1962 (Senior Year), it is evident that Glenn was a very involved student. Student Council, Class Officer, Most Musical in the 1961 PHS Hall of Fame, and singer in the High School Chorus. He was a member of the Letter Club, and on the football and basketball team all four years. His freshman year he played baseball.
His Senior year of high school involved many of the same activities and added Senior class president, named best dancer in the Senior Hall of Fame, and Girl’s League Formal Royalty. Senator Frank Church spoke at his high school graduation.

Glenn married Judy Scoville in 1962 and they later divorced. They welcomed three children - Curt (Elaine), of LaGrange Georgia, Keli (Ernie Willard), of Hayden Idaho, and Kory Lazelle, of Rathdrum Idaho. He is survived by them and grandchildren Rachael Lazelle (Sky), Chase Lazelle (Edna) and Bailey Lazelle (Nick), Great
grandchildren Greyson, Emerson and Charlie.

Glenn was married to Patricia Fiscus and Sandy O’Brien. Both marriages ended in divorce. He was preceded in death by both and his longtime companion Mary Veilleux. Glenn worked in a variety of occupations. He was a WSU employee in the Engineering Department, Owner and operator of Darling Fuel in Clarkston, a farmer, a rancher, and a builder. He spent time as a construction
worker in Israel. Glenn was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to take his friends out on his Pontoon boat and to his hunting cabin. His pride and joy was his gun collection and he reloaded all of his own shells. He enjoyed antiques and had many one-of-a-kind items. He was a gardener and canned all his garden produce, giving most of it away to friends and family. His pickles were legendary, and we will savor our final jars. His cupboards were full, and he was good at bartering. He was a man of many talents. He honored tradition and was a proud member of The Citizen Potawatomi Nation. He was known to the tribal leaders in Shawnee, OK and was given his Indian Name “Eagles Come To Me.” He studied the native traditions and performed healing rituals for family members.

Glenn came from a musical family and was a talented musician. He played guitar and had a strong singing voice. His sister told a story that involved Glenn and a record producer offering him a contract when he lived in California. He turned it down, missing the opportunity to be the next Elvis. He enjoyed hosting company and spent many hours entertaining family and friends. He travelled to Mexico several times during his retirement years.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, and both sets of grandparents. He was especially close to his Grandpa Frank Darling. He was recently preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Alsterlund (In February) and is survived by sisters Judy (Gerald) Reisenauer, and Jo (Duane) Minden.
