On June 8th, 2020, Janice (Bosse) Peterson was reunited with the love of her life, Gary. She was 76 years old.
Jan’s journey started on December 29th, 1943 in Spokane, WA where the family lived for most of her childhood. Jan’s parents, Richard and Martha Bosse, along with her older brother Dan, younger sister Sharon and younger brothers Mike and Rick, moved to Moscow in 1959. She attended Moscow High School (class of ’62) where she met Gary Peterson. The two would be married on Oct, 28, 1961 in the St Mary’s church in Moscow.
Gary and Jan had 4 sons, Allen, Craig, Brian and Kyle. As a family they enjoyed many activities including camping, motorcycle riding, jeeping, white water rafting, fishing, and road trips in the motorhome. In their later years, they also enjoyed camping at the lake, boating, and spending winters in Arizona.
Jan’s favorite hobbies were sewing crafts and quilting. Jan made the most beautiful quilts that won countless blue ribbons at quilt shows and fairs. It wasn’t the ribbons she was after though, it was the smiles she got from her loved ones as they receive these precious quilts as gifts that she cherished the most.
In 2003, Jan retired from the U of I after 38 years, primarily as an administrative assistant for the College of Agriculture. This allowed Jan more time to spend her days doing something else that she loved to do- spend time with her grandchildren. And spending time with grandma was always the kids’ favorite days as well.
Jan is survived by her brothers Mike Bosse and Rick (Nancy) Bosse, sister Sharon Fletcher, four sons, Allen, Craig (Penny), Brian (Jonell), and Kyle (Shelle), 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary and her brother Dan (Jan) Bosse.
Jan will be laid to rest with Gary at the Moscow Cemetery and a Memorial service will be held at a later date.
