Phyllis Sue Evans went home to Jesus on August 2, 2023 at age 69 after her battle with Alzheimer's. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by family.
Phyllis was born to Thomas Elmo Murphy and Doris Amy Toft on November 23, 1953 in Tampa, Florida. As a child, she excelled in school and scripture memorization. She graduated from East Bay High School in Riverview, Florida before moving to Colorado.
Phyllis met her husband, James Evans in 1988 through a mutual friend. They married the following year on June 9, 1990. Throughout their marriage they enjoyed many adventures together while traveling the world. Their favorite and most meaningful trip was their trip to Israel. Phyllis also loved to travel to visit their grown children and grandchildren.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and loving mother, Phyllis also loved her short but rewarding career as a nurse. Although her career was cut short by a brain injury in 1998, nursing remained a part of her identity until the end. Throughout her entire life, Phyllis held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was always able to share scripture for any difficulty.
Phyllis joins her parents, Elmo and Doris, her sister, Linda, and her nephew, Kevin, in Heaven. She is survived by her husband Jim, her sister, Patricia (Michael) Von Bank, her foster brother, Larry (Judy) Stickler, her children, Joshua (Rachel) Baden, Jodi (David) Schultz, Matthew (Rebecca) Baden, and Erin (Luke) Reece, her grandchildren, Nichole, Rayce, Sara, Madison, Layla, Zoe, Lilly, Zion, Eleanore, Noah, Jadon, Jackson, Imogen, and Hatcher, 3 great-grandchildren Ryder, Reid and Avery, nieces Keri, Amy and Teri, and nephew David.
Services will be held at the Evans home in Princeton, Idaho on August 12th at 2:00pm and also in Lakewood, Colorado in early October (TBD). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Liberty Council https://www-.lc.org/ or to your favorite Alzheimer's organization in Phyllis's name.
