Tammy Sweat-Chipman Obituary

Tammy Sweat-Chipman was born December 8th, 1962 in Lehi, Utah as the daughter of Paul & Elaine Crandall.  From the minute she was born, Tammy was focused on living every second of life to the fullest. Tammy married Rick Sweat of American Fork, UT in the fall of 1979 and shortly thereafter the duo welcomed their daughter Kasee and son Tyrel into the world.  Later in life, she met her true love, Alan Chipman, and had the opportunity to continue to build her dreams with him.

In her youth, she developed a love of horses alongside her Grandma & Grandpa Holmstead, and grew that love into a passion for breeding and raising American Quarter Horses with the love and guidance from Ron and Sandra Pace.  Aside from her family, the horses developed under the R Bar T brand were one of her biggest sources of pride. She was a member of the Utah Quarter Horse Association Board, Miss Rodeo Utah Board of Directors, and most recently became one of the coaches of the University of Idaho Rodeo Team, which is based out of their facility in Troy, ID.  Countless rodeo youth, aspiring rodeo queens, and horsemen were welcomed as part of the extension of people fortunate enough to call Tammy “family”.

Tammy used her talents in managing people to facilitate growth in others, and found her career passions aligned in the technology arena.  She worked for Alpine School District in Utah County, for Phone Directories Company, and with Navisite- a Time Warner Cable Company. Her work allowed her the opportunity to connect with another set of amazing “family” members from around the globe, individuals who were added to the list of people impacted by her unique outlook on life.

When diagnosed with terminal cancer in April 2015, Tammy had the chance to turn her focus once again to living life to the fullest.  While exceeding all expectations for her health, she spent the last four and a half years making memories and traveling the world; on a mission to find the most incredible beaches, iconic places, and memorable sunsets she could find.  Most importantly Tammy spent her time sharing her love and positivity with all she encountered. Her ability to set high expectations for herself and those around her allowed her to raise the bar for everyone. The family is grateful beyond measure to the team of medical professionals who have helped her live her life according to her wishes, and for allowing the quality of life to remain intact.  A special thank you to Dr. Wendy Breyer is in order for being the one-in-a-million doctor with the perfect combination of medical skills and personal care.

Tammy was joyously reunited with those who left before her, including her son Tyrel Sweat and her grandparents Boyd and Norval Holmstead and Joy and Carson Crandall.  Those who remain to live her legacy include her husband Alan, and children: Kasee (Randy) Smith of Moscow, ID, Cory (Zack) Hutto of Riverton, UT, Whitney (Brian) Nielsen of Lehi, UT, and Justin Chipman of Kamas, UT.  The grandchildren who remain to remember her include Samantha, Quincy, & Dagen Smith, Britny (Cody) Adams, Cooper & Jack Hutto, Nazarith & Paizley Nielsen, and Cache Chipman along with a great grandson Deacon Smith and countless others who knew her best as Grammy Tammy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 31st at 11am at Short’s Funeral Chapel 1225 E 6th St, Moscow, ID with graveside service to be held directly following in the Moscow cemetery.  While Tammy loved flowers, she would prefer remembrance be made through contributions to the Tyrel Sweat Educational Trust which will provide scholarships to UI Rodeo Team members, and others in need of financial support for their education.  Remembrance can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/manage/tammy-sweatchipman-remembrance-fund
